oh what a night, what a perfect night!
last night, we celebrated my beautiful student's 21st birthday! to say they go all out here for birthdays would be an understatement! we met at 6pm at a disco club called "Martini Club" and wasted no time in getting down to some serious boogy-woogying.
me and the birthday girl, pre-dancing:
let the dancing BEGIN!
my intention was to get a picture of her blowing OUT the candles. Fail. however, i sort of like how it turned out!
my hair is down? whoa. mom would be proud. (and, whoa, i really need a haircut!)
group picture! i really had a blast getting to know these people and look forward to continuing relationships with many of them!
next, we headed to the MAFIA ROOM. i know what you're thinking: AWESOME. and you're right. it's a room dedicated completely to the game of MAFIA. which we played for about an hour an a half. completely in azeri.
it. was. a. BLAST.
aaaaaaand, then more getting jiggy on the dance floor.
WHAT A NIGHT. i got home at about 2:30 am, and after spending about 7.5 hours dancing my little heart out under the strobe lights, this is how my brain felt (i actually took this crazy picture on accident!) Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep before my 9am lesson:
My life here amazes me every day. Was this night rockin' fun? Absolutely. But was it also incredibly awkward at times and exhausting? Sure was. Seeing as I'm white, Dutch, and American, I'm automatically wired to look like a fool on the dance floor. The good news: I can throw my inhibitions to the wind with the best of them. Was it all worth it? No doubt.
