parents in Baku: PLACES THEY WENT!

My parents left a week ago...it's hard to believe they were here for a week! It was unbelievably refreshing to have them here, and I loved showing them around my beautiful city!

Here are the PLACES THEY WENT:

Maiden's Tower! (part of the city's 14th century walls. The base of this tower actually dates back to the 7th century BC!)
The view from the top:
The Icheresheher (Old City) Walls and one of Baku's 90 million fountains:
The TV Tower! We ate in the restaurant at the top!

The seaside walkway down the Caspian Sea! This place is called the "Bulvar" and is one of my favorite places to walk in Baku! They loved it too:The Caucuses Mountains! We took a day trip to one of the nearby regions in the mountains, Shamakha:
But, it was pretty foggy...we got a few beautiful mountain glimpses, and enjoyed a gorgeous drive, but when we got to the top of the mountains, this is what we saw:
The Soviet Union Government building:

The windy streets of the Old City:
The boardwalk at night! I love the view of the city from out here! This was their first night in Baku!
The outside of my flat upon their arrival!
Shirvanshakh's Palace (14th century)...This was the residence of the ruling family of Azerbaijan for several generations:
Bathing in 14th century hot-tubs:
The outside of my apartment building:

Martyr's Alley...an alley remembering the martyr's who were killed during the attack on Baku on the 20th of January:
The outside of the most beautiful Mosque in Baku:
A Baku lookout! I love that you can see the WHOLE downtown from here!
No trip to Baku would be complete without a visit to the local butcher:
My bedroom! This is where they stayed! It was SO nice to have them here!
The ground level door to my third-floor flat:
We found some SNOW! Our taxi driver stopped and wanted a photo with Dad since Baku got NO snow at all this year:Carpet Alley! Where people can say in English, "Please come, only looking! I make for you discount!" And we just smile and wave...
The Azerbaijan Philharmonic!
My SCHOOL!
Old City walls:
Targova, our main downtown walking streets...usually PACKED with people:
One of the many random parks named after the first president of AZ:
It was SO wonderful to show Mom and Dad my city! Come back soon!
